St. Kitts & Nevis has joined the list of Host Venues for ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 which will be granting tax waivers on hotel accommodation for certain tournament-related personnel.

CEO of the St. Kitts & Nevis Local Organising Committee (LOC), Horatio Versailles, recently confirmed to ICC Cricket World Cup West Indies 2007 Inc. that the government of that country has decided to allow the concession for teams, match-related officials and accredited media only.

"The Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Culture has informed (the LOC) that there will be no problem obtaining a tax waiver (for these persons)," Versailles stated in correspondence to ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 Managing Director & CEO, Chris Dehring.

This bring to five the number of Host Venues which have exempted accredited media from hotel tax during the tournament, under a programme called Operation Media Welcome; the others being Antigua & Barbuda, Grenada, Jamaica and Saint Lucia.

"It's great to see another country come on board with the tax waiver on hotel accommodation. It will be a significant reduction in costs for accredited media who are an important stakeholder in Cricket World Cup," said Dehring.

"There are now less than two months remaining until the start of Warm-up matches and Cricket World Cup looks forward to even more Host Venues embracing Operation Media Welcome."
