Runako Morton
Runako
Morton, is a tall right-handed middle order batsman,
he has had a challenging time in his brief international
cricketing career but has recently been making significant strides as
he makes a come back. Morton was initially called to West Indies senior
duty for the ICC Champions Trophy in September in 2002. He struggled to
maintain the required level of discipline and found himself on
the sidelines. But Morton has shown lots of maturity as he has fought
his way back into the West Indies squad
Morton has always been fairly
consistent in regional first class competition playing for the
Leewards, 2005 was no different he scored over 500 runs at just over an
average of 30 with two centuries and two half centuries. The 2005 tour
of Sri Lanka was face with industrial action between WIPA and WICB with
a number of senior players withdrawing their services Morton made his
Test debut.
Morton was impressive on
the Sri Lankan tour and was then picked for the 2005-06 tour to New
Zealand, where he proved his worth with a fighting
century, his maiden one-day hundred - in a losing cause.
