Omari Banks

Omari Banks became the first player from the tiny Leeward island of Anguilla to play Test cricket for the West Indies. His debut came May 2003 against the mighty Australians. His bowling figures were an unflatering 3 for 204 from 40 overs, this performance place him in the record books for the most runs conceeded by a bowler on debut in Test cricket. Tall With a high, elegant action and good control of flight, Banks possessed sufficient guile to trouble the best, but it was his resourceful lower order batting that added dept and stability to the fragile West Indies tail.

In his second Test match, Omari Banks held his nerves and composure for 47 vital runs to take the West Indies to a historical victory over Australia at the Antigua Recreation Ground. The West Indies' 418 on that occasion, was the highest fourth innings score in the history of Test cricket and that record still stands.
