Legendary
West Indies opening batsman and now chairman of selectors Gordon
Greenidge, believes more attention and care must be given to West
Indies cricket, he believes now is the time to get it right.
Greenidge
said, "We have to look at the game in a serious way, we have to rebuild
the game, we have to care about what is happening" Greenidge was
speaking after he announced the West Indies team to tour Pakistan in
November and December. "We need to look for players who are genuine in
the positions they are pick to occupy, we need to ensure they can get
the job done" he said.
"We
have to fined players who can apply cricket knowledge, that’s
where we are falling down and falling down badly in the West Indies.
That is where we need to pull ourselves up and do it quick". Greenidge
the technically sound opening batsman who was one of the finest opening
batsman of the 1980's and the best ever opener from the Caribbean, said
he was hoping to establish a core of players for the long term.
