For the
sixth time in as many months the West Indies defeated India in a One
Day International to clinch a semi final place in the ICC Champions
Trophy. Playing in front a pack noisy Indian crowd at the Sardar Patel
(Gujarat) Stadium, Motera, Ahmedabad, the West Indies turn what should
have been a walk in the park into a nail biter.
Chasing a target of 224 the West Indies seemed well place at 212 for 3
with Runako Morton and Ramnaresh Sarwan in control of the game, but
when Morton lost concentration and played across a full swinging
delivery from Agarkar all hell broke loose.
Three wickets then fell for 7 runs to leave the West Indies tottering
at 219 for 7, Carlton Baugh then scramble a single to give Marlon
Samuels the strike he did not disappoint, as he took the West Indies
home by three wickets and two balls to spare.
