Jerome Taylor
Jerome
Taylor was call up by The West Indies Cricket selectors to
replace Mervyn Dillon in the West Indies 15-man squad to face Sri Lanka
in the 3rd and final Cable & Wireless One-Day
International in St. Vincent and the Grenadines on June 11,
2003. Just 18 years old at that time Jerome Taylor was already named
the most promising fast bowler in the 2003 Carib Beer series. Taylor
has played only 31 first-class matches, averaging an impressive 23.13
runs for each of his 78 wickets.
Injuries kept him out
of the test side over the last year. Taylor regained his place
in the side to tour New Zealand in February 2006 where he was also side
line by injury. Now fully fit Taylor was able to regain his
place in the West Indies team for the 2006 home series.
Taylor has been
air-mark as one of the heirs to the Caribbean fast
bowling dynasty. His pace and his first 5 wicket haul at Sabina park in
the 2006 Digicel home series against India confirms the quality of this
young fast bowler.
Taylor bowling form in recent
times
has shown a lot of maturity he appears to be fitter and stronger, this
should be his World Cup.
