Dwayne Bravo
Dwayne
Bravo is developing into a genuine all-rounder, Bravo is
expected to play a significant role as the West Indies attempt to
return to international cricket prominence. Bravo is an exciting
right-handed batsman and right-arm medium-fast bowler who has already
become one of the West Indies' more reliable one-day bowlers, able to
contain batsman towards the end of the innings.
Bravo adds a new dimension to
West Indies cricket his electrifying fielding. His diving, catching and
other acrobatic exploits bring energy to the West Indies fielding.
Bravo has also developed a reputation for breaking
partnerships he has an uncanny abilty to produce a piece of magic when
all seem lost.
This was evident in the Second
Digicel 2006 ODI at Sabina Park against India, In the face of mounting
tension, Bravo bowled Yuvraj Singh as West Indies snatched a
tense one-run victory over India with two balls remaining to level the
Digicel One-Day International Series.
On the West Indies tour of
Australia in 2005, Dwayne Bravo was controversially not picked for the
first Test at Brisbane in which the West Indies were beaten
convincingly. Bravo was recalled for the second Test in Hobart and in
the Australians first innings he took 2/96. But his biggest
contribution was in the West Indian second innings in which he made a
superb 113, after coming in at a very difficult stage for the West
Indies.
Dwayne Bravo is perhaps the best
symbol of the West Indian cricket spirit of this curent cricket
generation. Always willing to go deep within to pull off
something
spectacular when it is most critical. The cricket World Cup should be
his stage, it doesn't get any more crictical than this.
