Corey Collymore
Corey Collymore was
a genuine fast bowler with a more side on action when he first debut
for the West Indies against Australia at the Antigua Recreation ground
in 1999. Collymore's misfortune has been stress fractures of the back
which has force a remodel of his action to a more opened chested one.
This has resulted in a significant lost of pace, but Corey Collymore
remains the West Indies most consistent bowler with
his fast-medium swing.
Corey Collymore is a thinking
bowler similar to a Malcolm Marshall with out the pace. Collymore uses
suttle variations along with an aggresive sprint to the
crease, his open-chested deliveries and up-right seam on the
ball seem to aid his ability to move the ball away from the
right-hander.
Long regarded as a One-Day
specialist Corey Collymore took four wickets on his return to the West
Indies one-day side in Zimbabwe in 2001, as West Indies beat India in
the final of the Coca-Cola Cup,He was recalled to the Test team for the
home series against Sri Lanka in 2003. He responded with five wickets
in the drawn first Test, and a second-innings haul of 7 for 57 in the
second, as West Indies sealed a seven-wicket victory.
Corey Collymore's response to
bowling, after suffering such career treating back injuries has been
phenominal. The recent admision by captain Brian Lara that Corey
Collymore is the West Indies best bowler, and the latest LG bowler
ratings of July 02 2006 which list Collymore at number 10 on
the table are testament to his commitment and courage.
